Obituary of Daniel P. Gallagher

Daniel Paul Gallagher died peacefully surrounded by his family on September 15, 2024. He was predeceased by his father, William "Pete" Gallagher, and his twin brothers, Thomas Edward and Terence Gerard, all of Binghamton, NY. He is survived by his son, Eoin Gallagher; mother, Josephine (Farrell) Gallagher; and seven siblings, including five brothers, Martin (Nancy) of Endicott; Patrick of Binghamton; Thomas Leo (Wendy) of Greenwich, CT; Dennis (Elizabeth) of Sanford, NC; and Terence Patrick (Wendi) of Binghamton; and two sisters, Mary of Syracuse; and Sheila (David) Martin of Binghamton. Dan is survived by 11 nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved, including Joseph, John, Molly, Michael and Bridget Martin; Kylie, Brian and Reagin Gallagher; Rachel, Leo and Redmond Gallagher. Danny attended Catholic Central High School (Class of 1977) in Binghamton where he made many lifelong friends, whom he cherished. Danny is also survived by many cousins. A salesman by trade, Danny spent his career working in Syracuse, NY, where he raised his son. Danny had the gift of laughter and when a friend or family member talked with him, both would soon be laughing about something he observed or something he said. Memories of Danny will bring a smile to one's face. A lifelong Catholic, Danny found deep comfort in practicing his faith. Danny often credited his faith with providing great strength and resilience during the last difficult years, and most importantly, during his last days. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. James Church, Main Street, Johnson City Monday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at St James Church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Donations in Danny's memory may be made to Mercy House, 221 N. McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760, or the Leo P.
