Jerome Zachary Knebel, 63, of Binghamton went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 13, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Wilma Knebel and by his sister, Mary (Knebel) Cable. He will be greatly missed by his family; his brothers, Chester (Judy) and Mark (Cindy); his nephews, Chester, Nicholas, Trevor, Zachary and Christopher; his nieces Melissa and Alexandria; his aunt, Elizabeth Antoni and by many cousins, work associates and friends. Jerry was a life-long member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Parish, Binghamton, where he developed a strong faith and passion for religion beginning in St. Cyril's Grammar School. Jerry also had a passion for finance, receiving a Bachelor's degree in Finance from SUNY Binghamton in 1982. His education and teaching at Ridley Lowell Business School helped launch him into his 37 year career in Broome County. His most current position was Director of the Office of Management and Budget for Broome County. He had a kind and gentle heart and was a very generous person. His pleasant demeanor and wit attracted many people. A Funeral Mass will be offered at SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, 148 Clinton Street, Binghamton, Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Jerry's memory may be made to SS.
