Jerry was one of a kind. I always looked forward to the holidays with him and how his witty, dry sense of humor always had us smiling and laughing. There are so many cherished memories of Jerry that will last a lifetime. I knew he was smart and good at his job; but to hear some of the specifics he's done in his career and for his county is admirable to say the least. Jerry was so humble, kind, and generous; among other things; he was a "classic Knebel". Jerry was my Godfather; and I know he is with him now; at Peace; and with "Baba".

While I’ve only known Jerry for the past few months, he impacted my life for the better. His insatiable appetite for knowledge was contagious. And his humor was second to known. It was an honor becoming his friend and he will always be in my heart.

Uncle Jerry was an amazing uncle and man. I loved going to visit him in Binghamton. He always had a great attitude and an amazing aura to be around. So many amazing holidays and memories to hold on to with him. There was never a moment I remember that he wasn’t cheerful and happy. A true Knebel. He was a very generous, giving and smart individual. I loved listening to his stories and his dry sense of humor. He always gave me a good laugh and I loved spending time with him. He was a dedicated collector, and started my first collection- Hess Trucks. I am very grateful and proud to have been his nephew. In his honor, I will get back into my collections, and grow my toe nails through my socks. We lost a great man, but his soul and memories will live forever. He will be greatly missed, but I am lucky to have had him as an incredible uncle.
Rest in Peace Uncle Jerry ❤️
Love - Zach Knebel

Chet & Judy, Mark & Cindy:
We were shocked to hear of Jerry's passing. I remember him well from our youth especially the infamous wifle ball games at Knebel stadium. From all the tributes pouring in locally he must of been the most popular guy to ever work for Broome County. Hopefully his dedication won't soon be forgotten. May he be blessed with eternal rest.

Jerry was a very good man , was sad to hear of his passing, my sincerest condolences to his Family.
And if I go,
while you're still here...
Know that I live on,
vibrating to a different measure
--behind a thin veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me,
so you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again,
--both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest.
And when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart,
...I will be there.

I am so shocked and saddened to hear this news! Jerry was a wonderful person to work with and always made a point of saying hi to me when he came to IT for meetings. I remember many times he called me just to tell me a joke, and as soon as he gave me the punch line and I started laughing, he would say goodbye and hang up. He had such a great, dry sense of humor. I also remember running into him at Barnes and Noble several years ago; he went to check out and then walked back to where I was browsing with a gift card he had just purchased for me. He told me he wanted to make sure I didn't talk myself out of spending money on something I wanted. He was so kind and considerate, and I will miss him very much.

Jerry, you were the nicest, kindest, person. So patient every year when budget time rolled around. Even when I asked the same questions for 30 years. RIP, you will be missed so much.

Mark,
I am so sorry to hear about Jerry. I always really enjoyed whenever he popped into my office at the County spinning some kind of story to make me laugh. He truly made me smile every time I saw him and I will miss those visits. I am glad to have known him and having been able to consider him a friend. My condolences to your family.

I was one of many who worked with Jerry over the years and can say there hasn’t been and will never be a more dedicated Broome County government employee. His work ethics and productivity were second to none. He was kind and considerate to all and will certainly be missed by so many of his past and present co-workers.
Rest in peace Jerry.
