Obituary of Gertrude Engates

Our precious angel Gertrude Engates, 100, of Binghamton, NY, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018. Trude is predeceased in death by her husband Stanley Engates, her parents Gasper and Mary Nemcek, son-in-law Claude Crawford, and great granddaughters, Morgan Konnick Cronan and Kailee Griffith Bridges. Also predeceased by her siblings, Joseph, Rose, Leo, Gasper, Irene, Marie, Art, Leonard, and Beatrice. Trude is survived by her daughter Patricia Crawford, son and daughter-in-law Douglas and Blanche Engates, and her wonderful caregivers, daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Joe Veninsky. Also survived by her granddaughters, Corinne & Randy Konnick, Collette Crawford, Sheila & Mark Guinan, Tiffany & Bobby Bausch, and Kerri & Dean Griffith; great grandchildren Miles, Corey, Ashlen, Chace, Zakary, Taylor, Emily, and Josh, and siblings, Dorothy, Martha, and Richard. Trude also has five great, great granddaughters, her extended family: Sheila, Lori, and Joe Veninsky, Michelle Gleason, & Christine Clapper and many special nieces and nephews. Trude was a dedicated mom and grandma. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed, especially by Elaine and Joe who took such great care of her. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Avenue, Binghamton, Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.
