James M. View Jr., 33, of Vestal passed away peacefully on December 19, 2016 surrounded by his family after a 4 ½ year battle with brain cancer which he fought with much courage and bravery. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Rachel and Joseph A. Reap Sr., an uncle Joseph A. Reap Jr. and a great aunt Mary M. Reap (Mamie) who was like a grandmother to him. He is survived by parents Mary and James View Sr. and a brother Patrick J. View, all of Vestal. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a graduate of Vestal High School class of 2001. He attended BCC and was a graduate of SUNY Oneonta class of 2006 with a degree in political science. He was an employee of AIG for 4 years. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, Syracuse University basketball and football, Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bulls, and NY Rangers. He had a great love and knowledge of music and sports and could tell you anyone's sports stats or when a song was written and by whom. He was proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed his family and friends. He loved life and lived it to the fullest in his short 33 years. A special thank you to everyone at the Mercy House, Jimmy's wish was to spend his final days with family, and we found great love, respect, and compassion at this special place on the last part of his journey. Also, included in these thanks are the many cousins & friends who supported us, especially Don and Alice Eggleston who provided daily support, and a special friend Matt Deane who took Jimmy to "trivia and wing" night each and every week that Jimmy was able to go.
