Anne Mitrus (1921 - 2012) | Visit Guest Book Mitrus, Anne M. Anne M. Mitrus, age 90, formerly of Binghamton, New York, died peacefullY on February 20, 2012 at the home of her niece Julie Donovan Collins and David Collins in Haymarket, Virginia where she had resided since January, 2007. Anne was born on April 8, 1921 in Binghamton, New York to George and Mary Megelich. She is survived by her sister in law, Marion Megelich (George) and Rose Megelich (Bill); brother in law, Thomas J.Donovan (June) and numerous nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband John and her infant son Gregory John; sisters, Mary Megelich, Marie Bowen, Helen Williams, Irene Lockwood and June Donovan; brothers, Michael, George, John, and William. Anne had a long and proud career with Singer Link. After her retirement, she dedicated her time as a volunteer at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton and to the Children's Home in Chenango. Prior to her husband John's passing in 1983, they were a constant presence at the Home which previously was an orphanage. Anne was also very active with St. Michael's Church, 296 Clinton Street, Binghamton, New York. She was active in the Pirohi Project as well as other celebratory activities within the church. A celebration of her life will be held at the J. A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11 a.m. Father James Dutko will officiate. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. It was Anne's wish that in lieu of flowers, that a donation in her name be made to St. Michael's Church, 296 Clinton Street, Binghamton, New York, 13905. " You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you for his own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience." -Colossians 3:12
