Day, Florence Conlon Binghamton: Florence Regina (Conlon) Day, 89, also known as Fody, died peacefully on Saturday morning, January 21st, at Elizabeth Church Manor. Fody was the seventh and youngest child of William Joseph Conlon and Florence McDonald Conlon and grew up in downtown Binghamton in St. Mary's Parish on Hawley Street. Fody was predeceased by her husband, Donald I. Day; along with her sisters, Frances McGowan, Teresa Feheley, Virginia Byrnes; and brothers, Joseph and Robert Conlon. Fody is survived by her 10 children (each one knowing that they were her favorite), Timothy Francis (Jennifer), Patricia Marie (John) Cox, Daniel Joseph (Loan), Terrence Arthur, Moira Teres, Luke Gerard (Pat), Teresa Ann, Justina Marie (Jim) Stanko, all of the Binghamton area, Mary Florence Day Rolison, San Jose, CA, and Anthony Conlon (Mary Ann) of Manlius, NY. Fody is also survived by her sister, Julia Eileen Gallagher; her sisters-in-law, Mary Day, Dorothy Day Doran; and brother-in-law, William J. (Pete) Byrnes; her 25 grandchildren, Courtney, Kimberly, Sarah, Melanie, Michelle, Amy, Brande, John, Daniel, Natalie, Gwendolyn, Meagan, Graighne, Kelly, Angela, Brian, Bernadette, Madeline, Tessa, Lowell, Keyne, Margaret, Peter, Sonnie, Anjelica; 23 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Samantha, Christopher, Katelyn, Jacob, Monica, Keiko, Emma, Saralyn, Ketcher, Trey, Alex, Piper, Sam, Jordan, Ainsley, Emberlyn, Nina, Jordan, Noelani, Sawyer, Bella, Meadow; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Fody graduated from Binghamton Central High School and attended Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA. Fody was a long-term member of St. John the Evangelist and then Saint Vincent de Paul parishes, a member of the Patronesses Society, and worked as a volunteer for many years at the Nearly New Shop. She also assumed Nocturnal Adoration Society duties after her husband passed away in 1986. She had many fond memories of her "Card Club" where she met monthly with her cherished friends, Peg Browning, Marie Buckley, Maria Cerretani, Marge Conlon, Peg Feheley, Anne Mullen, and Rose Previti. Fody spent many hours meticulously hand sewing quilts with her quilting club until her vision no longer permitted. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Elizabeth Church Manor and especially the 2nd floor for the tender loving care they provided Fody over the past 3 years. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Binghamton, Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA, in the spring. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Fody may be made to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, 7 Livingston St., Binghamton, NY 13903 or CHOW of Broome County, 3 Otseningo St., Binghamton, NY 13903.
