John R. Fitzgerald | Visit Guest Book Fitzgerald, John R. Vestal: John R. "Jack" Fitzgerald, 84, of Vestal, died Monday, January 16, 2012 at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was born July 4, 1927. He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Katherine Patricia Fitzgerald; his parents, Joseph and Mary Fitzgerald; brothers Joseph and William Fitzgerald; and a sister, Rosemary Barron. He is survived by his children, Owen and Deborah Fitzgerald, Vestal, Mary and Chris Wade, Vestal, Sean and Stephanie Fitzgerald, Bernadette and Leo Burke, all of Endicott; his grandchildren, Garrett, Brittney and Courtney Fitzgerald, Ryan and Denise Wade, Caitlin Wade and fianc Justin Bridge, Nate and Kelsie Fitzgerald, Katie Burke and Justin Sisenstein, Amy Burke; his sisters, Mary Lorraine Andrew and Eleanor Cole; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathleen Fitzgerald, Vestal, Bernadette and Paddy Fives, Ireland, Mona Wood, England, Rose Sargent, Ireland; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal; Hall of Fame recipient of the Ancient Order of Hibernians; served in the US Navy and member of the American Legion for 60 years; and retired from IBM Corporation in Owego after 26 years of service. Jack enjoyed his morning card games with his friends at the Vestal Inn and his weekly euchre game at the Redmans. He also enjoyed his lottery scratch-offs. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Clark Street, Vestal on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Friendsville, PA. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jack may be made to The Colon Cancer Alliance, 1025 Vermont Ave., NW, Suite 1066, Washington DC 20005.
