The Rev. H. Arthur Doersam | Visit Guest Book The Reverend H. Arthur Doersam Johnson City: The Reverend H. Arthur Doersam, age 83, died Friday, December 2, following a brief illness with family members by his side. Art is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (Bennett). He was the oldest son of Harry C. and Mary (Howard) Doersam. His siblings, Eleanor A. Doersam and Paul Doersam (Mary) survive him. Art is also survived by his children, Rebecca Doersam, David (Lynda) Doersam, Lynn (Lenny) Jago, Kirk (Janet) Shelley, Lynn Alexander and John Gasdaska. Also surviving him are five grandchildren, Angela and Trevor Gasdaska, Christina and Kirk, Jr. Shelley, Laurie Jago Vona; and a great-granddaughter, Madison Wolfinger. His brothers-in-law, Roger (Julie) and Douglas (Ann) Bennett also survive him. Better known as Art, he graduated from the University of Michigan and Virginia Theological Seminary. During his ministry he served in churches in Grosse Pointe, MI, Wilmington, DE, Clarks Summit, PA and was Archdeacon in the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem, PA. He retired in 1993 after 17 very happy years at Trinity Memorial Church in Binghamton. After his retirement he served as Associate Pastor at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Johnson City. Art will be greatly missed by his family as well as so many former parishioners and friends he made since arriving in Binghamton in 1976. He was a wonderful, caring and devoted husband, brother, father and grandfather. He will live forever in our hearts. The family wants to sincerely thank all the Staff on the 3rd Floor, South Tower, at Wilson Memorial Hospital who were so compassionate and caring during his last week of life. Memorial services will be held at Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, 44 Main Street, Binghamton, Tuesday at 11 a.m. Rt. Rev. Gladstone Adams, Very Rev. John R. Martinichio, Rev. David A. Drebert and Rev. Christine Day will co-officiate. The family will receive friends in the Hoyt Room at Trinity Memorial Church Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Father Doersam may be made to Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, 44 Main Street, Binghamton, NY 13905 or All Saints' Episcopal Church, 475 Main Street, Johnson City, NY 13790. Arrangements are by the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, NY.
