Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lehmann, Helen L. Binghamton: Helen L. Lehmann, 59, went home to sing in the heavenly choir on August 31, 2011. She was greeted at the gates of heaven by her brother, Charles E. Lehmann; her father, Charles J. Lehmann; her paternal grandparents, Charles B. & Loretta Lehmann; her maternal grandparents, Prof. James J. & Helen (Enright) Case; maternal aunts and uncles, James J. & Madeline (Burns) Case, Elizabeth A. (Case) Reynolds. She is survived by her mother, Prof. Mary Agnes (Case) Lehmann; her sister, Hon. Mary Anne Lehmann; her beloved son and his wife, Peter Charles & Kimberly Lehmann-Saba and beloved grandson, Jonah Charles Lehmann-Saba. She is also survived by her nephew, Adam Lehmann and his mother, Marietta Lehmann; and nephew, Tristan Charles Lehmann and his mother, Kathy Zabadal; maternal aunts and uncles, Michael Reynolds and John & Kathy (Valentine) Case; many beloved cousins, Chip, Boose, Mosey, Sharon, Ann and Goody; dear family friends, The Condon Family, Marcia (Miller) McLean, and church choir family members at OLS. Helen was raised in Binghamton and graduated from Binghamton Central in 1970. She received her degree, an MA in Early Childhood Education, from Syracuse University. Her crowning achievement was raising her son Peter, seeing him marry a wonderful woman, Kim, and playing with her grandson, Jonah. Helen had a special gift with children. She never met a child she didn't like. She also had a special talent for music and sang, for many years, the praises of our God at Blessed Sacrament Church in Johnson City, Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Vestal under Marcia Eckerson, and The Downtown Singers. She received the Sacraments at St. Patrick's Church in Binghamton and was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Vestal where she served on the organ committee. Helen fought the good fight against cancer for the past three years until God called her Home. She now sings with the angels and saints. The family wishes to express our deep gratitude to the Dr. and Staff at Elizabeth Church Manor for the compassionate and remarkable care they gave to Helen in her final days. We would also like to extend a special thanks to Fr. John Putano. Donations in Helen's name can be made to Elizabeth Church Manor UMH, Upper Front St., Binghamton, or A Room to Heal Inc., PO Box 503, Vestal, NY 13851. Helen was very proud of her fundraising efforts for this charity. A Room to Heal is a local non-profit that brings comfort and joy to children living with unimaginable health conditions. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton, Monday at 9:30 a.m. Private burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Johnson City, on Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, on Sunday from 2-5 p.m.
