Rossie, Joseph F. Binghamton: Joseph F. Rossie, 104, of Binghamton died Thursday, September 1, 2011. He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred; and brother and sister, Peter and Margaret Rossi of California. He is survived by his sons, David of Binghamton, Jonathan (Ann) of Seattle, WA, and Christopher of Binghamton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was born March 17, 1907 in Arnara, Italy and came to the United States in 1912 at the age of five with his mother Martha (Franzelette) Rossi and joined his father, Dominicus Rossi who arrived earlier. Joseph was a teacher for 45 years, mostly in the Union-Endicott School District, originally in a one-room school house on Boswell Hill Rd. in the Town of Union. Later he taught and coached basketball in the Stella Common School District in Johnson City and then taught electrical technology at Union High School. He retired from teaching in 1972. During this time, he worked toward a Master's Degree at Syracuse University. He was an early telelvision enthusiast and at one point, created an antenna and cable system that served his and his neighbors' residences on South Mountain. Interrment will be in Vestal Hills Cemetery and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Garabed Fattal Community Free Clinic, 225 Front St., Binghamton, NY 13905. Arrangements are by J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, NY.
