Semo, William J. Binghamton: William John Semo, 84, of Binghamton, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Dolores (Michalek) Semo; his parents, George and Florence Semo; a brother, George Semo; and a sister, Dorothy Baranowski. He is survived by his children, Marilyn and Ted Powley, Sodus, Linda Wagner, Sodus, David and Ann Semo, Candor; his grandchildren, John and Nikki Powley, Jennifer and Whit Sprague, Jeremy Powley, Jason and Erin Powley, Will Semo; great-grandchildren, Joe, Matt, Emma and Abby Sprague, Marissa Powley and Morgan and Rese Powley; his sister, Florence Snow, Kirkwood; sister-in-law, Joanne Zamecnik, Manlius; and many special nieces and nephews. Bill also leaves many supportive friends from Country Hills, Marathon and neighbors. Bill was a retired employee of the Binghamton School District. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. In retirement, Bill enjoyed his family, camping and gardening and was noted for his dahlias which he shared with many people. Bill always offered a helping hand for those in need along with a ready smile. Thank you to Fran and Kathy Sheredy, Lou Wilson, the fine staff at HSBC Main Street branch, the kind and caring staff of Binghamton General Hospital and the wonderful staff of Elizabeth Church Manor for your kindness, care and support. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Friday at 10 a.m. Reverend Corey S. VanKuren will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Thursday from 5-7 p.m.
