Obituary of Myles E. Wood

Myles E. Wood, 80, of Vestal, died Wednesday morning, January 12, 2005, at his home. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Ellen Wood; his son, Myles Wood II; his daughter, Maureen Ann Wood; and his daughter-in-law, Karen Ann Wood. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Betty Wood, Iowa City, Iowa; his daughter, Christine Wood, Whitney Point; granddaughters, Lindsey E. Wood and Laura M. Wood; several nieces and nephews, including Norman and Rosemary Wood; a sister-in-law, Ethel Wood; special friends, Paul Kelly and Peg Walsh; and many other dear friends in Binghamton and Iowa; special caregiver, Celeste. Myles was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Binghamton. He retired from Universal Instruments; graduated from North High School and the University of Notre Dame. He was a fund raiser for the United Way following his retirement from Universal. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of The Knights of Columbus, Peter T. Campon Council #206. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and at 12 Noon at St. John the Evangelist Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Myles may be made to Lourdes Hospice, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905, or Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation, 110 Marlborough Rd., Syracuse, N.Y. 13206, or Susquehanna Day Habilitation, 297 Chenango St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13901.
