James J. Hawley, 71, of Endwell, died Monday afternoon, February 21, 2005, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara Shramek Hawley, Endwell; his children, Kelly and Richard Burke, James and Molly Hawley, Kathleen and John Munley, Kevin Hawley, Kerry and Jeffrey Van Auken; beloved "Pop Pop" to John Michael, Megan Elizabeth, Maura Ellen Munley, Jeffrey Joseph Van Auken, Siobhan Mary Burke; step grandfather to five children; a sister, Mary Ellen Giblin; brother, Edward Hawley; mother-in-law, Arlene Shramek; sister-in-law, Betty and Alan Werle, Rochester, Minn.; brother-in-law, Ted and Genevieve Shramek, Newburgh; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of St. Ambrose Church, Endicott, retired 32 year employee of the IBM Corporation, and a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan and a graduate of Niagara University. Jim was a devout Catholic and family man and shared his time at Perpetual Adoration of Our Lord at Our Lady of Angels Church. He was loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Alan Miller for his care, compassion and concern for the family. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Ambrose Church, Endicott, Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Jim may be made to the Hospice Program, c/o Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905, or St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Avenue, Endicott, N.Y. 13760.
