Obituary of Patrick E. O´Hara

Dr. Patrick E. O'Hara, 68, of Vestal, died Monday evening, December 8, 2003, at Binghamton General Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Emmett and Kathryn O'Hara. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonnie O'Hara, Vestal; his children, Kevin and Tracy O'Hara, Dr. Daniel and Dr. Irene O'Hara, Debra Shager and her fiance David Ross, Keith and Diana O'Hara, Timothy O'Hara and his fiance Robin Nunes; nine grandchildren, Patrick, Ashley, Meghan, Katie, Lauren, Conlan, Caroline, Andrew and Matthew; a brother, Dennis and Nancy O'Hara; brothers-in-law, Daniel and Audrey DeRienzis, David and Gayle DeRienzis; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church, Vestal. Dr. O'Hara was a graduate of Mt. St. Mary's College, Emmittsburg, Md., and New York Medical College, and served four years in the United States Navy. Dr. O'Hara practiced as an emergency room physician from 1965 until 1998 in local Broome County E.R.'s. He founded the EMS Emergency System of Broome County and was founder of the Broome County Traffic Safety Board. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent DePaul Church, 465 Clubhouse Rd., Vestal, Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. The family requests that flowers please be omitted and expressions of sympathy in memory of Dr. O'Hara be made to any Emergency Medical Service or Catholic Charities of Broome County, 232 Main St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
