Genevieve Sheeran Davitt, 94, of Binghamton, died Thursday afternoon, November 27, 2003, at the Willow Point Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband, James Normile Davitt; sisters, Anna Eckel, Mary Keefe, Ruth Sheeran; brother, John "Sonny" Sheeran; and nieces, Rosemary Keefe McGoff, and Joan Keefe Marks. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Maryanne R. Davitt, Binghamton, Kathleen and James Alberque, Mass.; three grandchildren, Kathleen and Mark Shea, Carthage, Tenn., Lisa and Brian Fleming, Suffern, James Davitt Alberque, Brookline, Mass.; four great-grandchildren, Heather and Andrew Shea, Grace and Jack Fleming; nieces, Genevieve Eckel, Jeanne and William Kadlecik; nephew, James and Lorraine Keefe, all of Binghamton; 20 grandnieces and nephews, Michael McGoff, Kevin McGoff, James McGoff, Kathryn McGoff, John McGoff, Patricia Roach, Rosemary Hall, Elaine McGoff, Joseph McGoff, Mary Rose Baker, Jeanne Arnold, Anne Marie Levo, Judy Kobbe, Mary M. Surdey, Patrick Keefe, Eileen Hurley, Jeffrey Keefe, Daniel Keefe, Ann Paul, Sherry Paul Gandt; 40 great-grandnieces and nephews. Genevieve was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Binghamton, and a 38-year employee of N.Y. Telephone Co., retiring as chief operator. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 1. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff and nurses at Willow Point, West Wing. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Monday at 9 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Genevieve may be made to St. Mary's Soup Kitchen, 37 Fayette St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13902.
