Obituary of Martin J. Reap

Martin J. Reap, 88, of Binghamton, died Tuesday afternoon, May 13, 2003, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Martin T. and Sarah C. Reap; his sisters, Mary Reap, Josephine Eggleston and Helen Gallagher; and brothers, John and Arthur Reap. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rose Mary Costello Reap; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Ronald Potter, Sharon and Joseph Longobardi; seven grandchildren, Laura, Lisa Newrock, and Melanie Potter, Joseph, Justin, Jason and Jenna Longobardi; brother, Joseph Reap; sister, Juane Skinner; sisters-in-law, Beverly Costello and Elizabeth Costello; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Marty was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Binghamton, an usher and member of the Holy Name Society. He was a retired Lieutenant with the Binghamton Fire Department, retiring after 29 years of service. He was a US Air Force Staff Sergeant during WWII and a member of American Legion Post 1645, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Peter T. Campon Council #206, a member of the 4th Degree Assembly, member of the Binghamton Elks B.P.O.E. #852, and was an avid bowler and golfer. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Saturday, at 9 a.m., and at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Marty may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church Restoration Fund, 1263 Vestal Ave., Binghamton, N.Y. 13903.
