James
E. Thayne, 89, of Whitney Point, died Saturday morning, December 28, 2002, at
Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was predeceased by his parents,
William and Margaret Thayne; his sisters, Mary and Kathleen Thayne, Monica
Storman; and a brother, Francis Thayne. He is survived by a sister, Bernetta
Thayne, Endicott; a brother and sister-in-law, Vincent and Hilda Thayne,
Vestal; sister-in-law, Dorothy Thayne, Binghamton; several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Whitney Point, Army veteran of World War
II, where he served in the European Theatre, and a member of Whitney Point
American Legion Post 974. James was a retired farmer and artificial inseminator
for Curtis Breeding Service.
Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main
Street, Binghamton Tuesday, at 9 a.m., and 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church,
Whitney Point, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in the St.
Bonaventure Cemetery, Auburn Center, Pa. in the spring. The family will receive
friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m.
