Obituary of Lawrence Gehr

Gehr, Lawrence A., Sr. Johnson City: Lawrence A. Gehr Sr., 96, of Johnson City, died Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with his granddaughters at his side. He was predeceased by his wife, Marian Gehr; and a great-grandson, Zachary Kaczynski. He is survived by his sons, Lawrence A. Gehr II, Johnson City, Robert and Betty Gehr, Edgewood, MD; three granddaughters, Cindy and Craig McMurray, April and Dan Kaczynski, Teri and Gary Sigwart; nine great-grandchildren, Alec, Nick, Tyler, Bryce, Sadie, Maddie, Emily, Robbie, Kyle; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Binghamton. He retired from General Electric and the City of Binghamton. He was a decorated US Army Veteran of World War II and served his country for 22 years, and a member of the VFW in Endicott. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Victory in Europe Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Battle of the Bulge Medal and the Europe Occupation Medal. Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Monsignor John P. Putano, his Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.1
