Obituary of Nancy F. Smith

Nancy Furino Smith, 61, of Conklin, died Monday evening, June 4, 2001, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, Jerry and Angie Furino. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, David P. Smith, Conklin; her daughter and son-in-law, Bethany and Simon Renall, Binghamton; her son and daughter-in-law, Bernard and Maria Smith, Arlington, Va.; special grandchild, Maxwell David Renall; two sisters and brother-in-law, Peg and Bob Golden, Kent, Mary Chanecka, Binghamton; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; a very dear friend, Grace Roma. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Binghamton, graduate of Nazareth College, Class of 1961, member of the Binghamton Country Club, avid golfer and reader. Nancy was a social worker in the state of Maine and in Binghamton for many years, and enjoyed her many visits to the Bahamas. When the family thinks of Nancy, they remember a wonderful nurturer of her family, extended family, friends and anyone less fortunate or in need. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Friday at 9 a.m., and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Nancy may be made to The Lourdes Hospital Oncology Dept., 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
