Obituary of Edward J. Zola

Edward
J. Zola, Jr., 66, of Vestal, died Saturday, November 18, 2000 at his home. He
was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Dorothy Zola, Sr. He is survived by
his wife of 42 years, Marie B. Zola, Vestal; three daughters and sons-in-law,
Karen and Joseph Miller, Binghamton, Debbie and Steve Bell, Binghamton, and
Michele Russin, Vestal; a son, Robert Zola, Binghamton; six grandchildren,
Julie, Milissa and Amy Miller, David and Sean Bell, Emily Russin; a sister and
brother-in-law, Susan and Edward Zarkowski, Peckville, Pa.; also several
nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church,
Vestal, and a graduate of the University of Scranton. He was a retired engineer
for I.B.M. Corp. retiring after 35 years of service and a member of the Quarter
Century Club. He traveled extensively abroad and in the United States for
I.B.M. He was a volunteer for Action for Older Persons, the United Way of
Broome County, TRIAD, and R.S.V.P. He was the number one fan of his
grandchildren's sporting events and an avid N.Y. Yankees fan. The Edward J.
Zola, Jr. Technology Center was recently dedicated at the Action for Older
Persons office. The family would like to especially thank Rev. Daniel Caruso,
Edward's Pastor, and Dr. Thomas Martin.
Funeral
services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street,
Binghamton, Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Church,
where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery,
Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home,
Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial
contributions in Edward's name be made to Action for Older Persons, 30 West
State Street, Binghamton, N.Y. 13901. Additional donations may be made to the
Hospice Program c/o Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Drive,
Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
