Obituary of Norris R. Reese

Norris R. Reese, 81, of Binghamton, died on Monday, June 7, 2004 at Elizabeth Church Nursing Home. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Irene; his four sons and daughters-in-law, David and Mary, William and Karen, Richard and Amy, and Michael and Diane; his two daughters, Nancy and Patty; nine grandchildren, Teresa and Michael Henning, Timothy, Kimberly, Stacy and Brian Howerton, William Jr. and Kelly, Alisha, Jennifer, Nicole and Ryan; four great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Rheya, Gabrielle and Quentin; a sister-in-law and her husband, Doris and Dr. Martin Newman; and friends (considered family), Mary and Gerald Davis, Michael and Ionna (Bam) Hyatt; and several nieces and many good friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Orson and Lila Reese; and his sister, Anne Pierson. Norris retired several years ago from Stein Builders and was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, and received the purple heart. He helped start and served as Commandant of the Marine Corp League in Ithaca, N.Y. Norris was a very caring and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by the entire family. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Thursday at 1 p.m. Rev. Richard Santella, Pastor of High Street Methodist Church, Binghamton, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Norris may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1700, Chicago, Ill. 60601-7633, or the United Methodist Homes Elizabeth Church Manor, 863 Front Street, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
