Mary

T. Cleary McCarthy, 66, of Binghamton, died Saturday afternoon, December 23,

2000, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, John

T. McCarthy; her parents, Wayne and Lucy Smith; her brothers, Alfred Smith and

Dick Smith. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Timothy P. Cleary,

Michael J. and Siobhan Cleary; her grandchildren, Nicole, Patrick and Brendan,

all of Binghamton; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Patricia Smith,

Vestal; sister-in-law, Patricia McCarthy, Binghamton; two nieces, one nephew.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton and retired 21 year

employee of the Broome County Dept. of Social Services. In recent years Mary

provided child care to the neighborhood. Funeral

services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home Inc., 141 Main

St., Binghamton, Wednesday at 9 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church,

where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery,

Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home,

Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mary may be made

to the Hospice Program, c/o our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Dr.,

Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
