Obituary of Edward A. Campion

Edward A. "Art" Campion, 84, of Vestal, died Wednesday morning, January 14, 2004 at the James C. Johnston Nursing Center. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Sarah Campion and his daughter, Catherine Campion. Art is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret "Peg" Bulger Campion, Vestal; his children, Thomas and Diane Campion, Endicott, Teresa and Nick Thielen, Plymouth, Minn., Kathryn Gates and fiance, Michael St. Clair, Endicott, Capt. James and Susan Campion, U.S.A.F., N.J.; eight grandchildren, Erin, Lauren, Andrew, Amber Campion, Heather and Adam Gates and their father, Shawn Gates, and Kate and David Thielen; two brothers, George Campion and Thomas Campion, Binghamton; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leo and Gaye Bulger, John and M. Jacqueline Bulger, Mary Hill, Rita Coughlin and Constance Legos. Art was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church, Vestal, and its Men's Club and was a caretaker at St. Vincent's Church for many years. He was a former employee of Spaulding Bakeries and retired from the United States Post Office in Binghamton and a member of Narfe. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive at the McCormack Funeral Home, Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Art may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Church, 165 Clifton Blvd., Vestal, N.Y. 13850, or the Alzheimers Association of the Southern Tier, 1406 Monroe St., Endicott, N.Y. 13760.
