Obituary of Joseph M. Pastor

Joseph M. Pastor, 82, Chief Petty Officer, US Navy Ret., died peacefully on Sunday morning, November 2, 2003, at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his brother, Francis Pastor. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Colleen Collins Pastor; his children, Susan and Stephen Powers, Ellen and Bradley Wahl, Robert and Susan Pastor, Michael and Marce Pastor; his grandchildren, Colleen, Brendan, Maureen and Ryan Powers, Tony and Tammy Wahl, Scott and Meghan Wahl, Kristen and Sean Walter, Robert, Nicholas, Grant and Quinn Pastor; great-grandsons, Spence, Sean and Karson Walter; his brother, Donald and Betty Pastor; and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Pastor; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe served in the United States Navy for 20 years, and was credited with shooting down the first torpedo plane at Pearl Harbor while on duty with the USS Sumner. He was superintendent of Calvary Cemetery for 28 years and a member of V.F.W. Post 478. The family would like to thank the staff of South Tower 5 for their compassionate care. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. James Church, Johnson City, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. The family requests that flowers please be omitted and expressions of sympathy in memory of Joe be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central NY, Suite 900, Mony Tower II, 120 Madison Ave., Syracuse, NY 13202.
