Joseph E. Ryan, 76, of Binghamton, died Saturday morning, September 27, 2003 at his home. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Ryan. Joe is survived by his children, Richard Ryan, Kiameshia Lake, Donna and Jim Bruno, Pine Brook, N.J., Thomas and Sue Ryan, Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Margaret and Paul Warden, Johnson, Vt., David Ryan, Montauk, Dan Ryan, Manhattan, Blaise and Kathy Ryan, Apalachin; nine grandchildren, Katie, Alex, Jamie, Matt, Abel, Cooper, Jack, Sean, and Joe; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Robert Kiernan, Auburn; several nieces, nephews and his friends at the Spot Restaurant and Morey's Restaurant. He was a member of St. Christopher's Church, Binghamton, member of the Binghamton Elks B.P.O.E. #852, Coast Guard Veteran of World War II, member of the Nimmonsburg Volunteer Fire Department. Joe was retired director of the Binghamton District Office of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. A funeral mass will be offered at St. Christopher's Church, Castle Creek Rd., Binghamton, Tuesday at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Auburn, N.Y., with graveside services Tuesday at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Joe may be made to the Hospice Program, c/o Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
