Obituary of Helen F. La Rose

Helen
F. LaRose, 88, of Binghamton, went to be with the Lord peacefully Tuesday, May
13, 2003, at Elizabeth Church Manor. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert
E. LaRose Sr., in January 1995. She was born on August 3, 1914 to Michael and
Valeria Babinski in Dickinson City, Pa. Helen is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Elliott and Marlene LaRose, McDonough, Robert and Joan LaRose
Jr., Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren, Richard LaRose, Raleigh, N.C., Jill and
John King, Cincinnati, Ohio, Jacqueline and John Kanuah, Kailua Kona, Hawaii,
Christopher LaRose, San Diego, Calif., Douglas LaRose, San Francisco, Calif.;
two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Andrew King. She was one of 12 siblings
and is survived by a sister, Josephine Buiocchi, Dickinson City, Pa.; one
brother, Michael and Marge Babinski, Hellertown, Pa. She was a member of St.
Thomas Aquinas Church, Binghamton, and was very active with Bible study. Helen
enjoyed working with the cafeteria staff at West Junior High School which she
did for many years and retired from that position. She was an avid gardener and
had beautiful and bountiful flower and vegetable gardens which she spent many
hours attending. Other hobbies included canning, reading, and cooking family
dinners. Helen had many close and dear friends, and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at
the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Thursday, at 9
a.m., and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, where a Funeral Mass will
be offered. Burial will be in Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore, Pa., with graveside
services on Friday at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the McCormack
Funeral Home, Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m.
