Obituary of Anthony C. Canino

Dr. Anthony Carmine Canino, Sr., 73, of Vestal, died Monday evening, October 8, 2001 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with his wife and children by his side. He is survived by his wife o 44 years, Virginia Canino, Vestal; his children, Dr. Anthony and Denise Canino, Vestal, Salvatore and Suzanne Canino, Seattle, Wash., Mary and Charles Gucciardo, Oneonta, Patrick and Eleanor Canino, Vestal, Janine and Thomas Fox; six grandchildren, Anthony III, Jennifer, Candice Michael, Brittany and Cassandra; a sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Vincent Russo, Staten Island. Dr. Canino was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Church, Vestal. A graduate of Downstate Medical Center in 1955, he completed his residency and internship at Brooklyn Hospital, Brooklyn, N.Y. He was Director of Emergency Medicine at St. Vincent's Hospital on Staten Island for many years. He continued in Emergency Medicine at the Hospital, Sidney, N.Y. and at Fox Hospital in Oneonta. In all, Dr. Canino devoted more than 45 years to providing dedicated and professional service. Funeral services will be held at theJ. A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Dr. Canino may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Church, 165 Clifton Blvd., Vestal, N.Y. 13850.
