Donald E. Bean, CW4 retired, 83, of Endwell, died Tuesday evening, February 4, 2003, at his home. He was predeceased by his wives, Grace Mendola Bean and Carmella Salvemini Bean; and four sisters and a brother. He is survived by a daughter, Donna Grace Merrill; a son, Dennis Bean; two granddaughters, Donna Striley and Shelley MacPhearson; four great-grandchildren, Allison and Lauren MacPhearson, Sidney and Adam Striley; three brothers, Richard Bean, Jean Bean and Leo Bean; five sisters, Alice Plano, Mary Bowen, Roberta Goram, Nancy Armeli and Terry Stone. He was a member of Our Lady of Angels Church, Endwell. Donald was a decorated Army veteran of WWII, a member of American Legion Post #1645, Knights of Columbus Council #1839 and retired administrative technician for the New York Army National Guard. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton Saturday, at 9:15 a.m., and at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Angels Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Don may be made to the Hospice Program, c/o Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
