Obituary of Beverly Oyebanjo

Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Oyebanjo, Beverly Kaye (Blair) Beverly Kaye (Blair) Oyebanjo passed suddenly into her heavenly home Saturday, January 19, 2013, two days after a pleasant birthday and milestone of 60 years. At age 13, Beverly and family removed from Columbus, GA to Endicott, NY. She entered the U-E school system where both of her parents were educators and graduated in 1970. Beverly then earned a BA in Sociology from Virginia State College. Her interesting career history included much travel as an auditor for Columbia Gas, a librarian for Motorola in addition to record related departments for IBM and Wilson Hospital. After relocating here from Washington, DC nearly 12 years ago, her most important labor was the loving and faithful care of her dear parents, the late Reverend Glenn T. Blair and mother Rebecca (Jones) Blair. Beverly was known for her kind, calm spirit, heart of gold, and truly the "patience of Job". She would not participate in gossip or harsh critique and quietly found time to help friends and church family with shopping, transportation, or other needs. Her roles at Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church were numerous. Beverly served on the deaconess board, was secretary for Woman's Home & Overseas' Missionaries, the quarterly conferences, and a representative for Church Woman United. As a true class leader (spiritual encourager), she visited the ill and elderly. Her weekly love tasks were constructing and printing the church bulletin and presenting a warm church welcome with announcements on Sunday mornings. Beverly inherited her father's love of reading; she was THE queen of fashionable bargain finds, loved good old-fashioned soul music (Aretha Franklin and Bobby Womack), movies and theater. Beverly was predeceased by her paternal and maternal grandparents, Jonas and Alice Blair, Rebecca and Sanford Jones respectively; and her father, Glenn T. Blair. She leaves to mourn her only sibling, sister, and best friend, Lauren Blair; and beloved mother, Rebecca Blair; family with lifelong friends in Georgia and Alabama; and former husband, Mr. Olakunle Oyebanjo of Nigeria. While we know she is with God and her father, countless hearts are broken having lost our dear Beverly. Beverly's Home Going Service will be held at Trinity AME Zion Church, Oak and Lydia Streets, Binghamton, Wednesday at 2 p.m. Reverend Freeman Y. Perry, Pastor, and Presiding Elder, Reverend Ruby J. Smith, will officiate. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Beverly may be made to Trinity AME Zion Church.
