Obituary of Rev. C. Patrick Keating

Rev. C. Patrick Keating, 63, Associate Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church, Binghamton, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at his residence. He was predeceased by his parents, Cornelius P. and Catherine McEneny Keating. He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, James M. and Karen Keating, Clay, Kevin R. and Regina Keating, Scottsdale, Ariz.; nieces and nephews, Kelly A. Keating, Margo Drake, Neil A. Keating, Christina Keating, Elizabeth Keating, Thomas Keating; an uncle, Michael Keating, N.C.. Father Keating graduated from St. Bonaventure University and studied at Christ the King Seminary and was ordained to the priesthood on May 17, 1969 by the Most Reverend David F. Cunningham, D.D. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Syracuse, N.Y. Father served as Associate Pastor at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Hillcrest, St. John the Evangelist Church, Binghamton, St. Matthew's Church, Syracuse, St. Paul's Church, Binghamton. In 1987, Father was appointed Pastor of St. Patrick's Church, Whitney Point and has been Associate Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church since 1993. He was Chaplain for the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division II and was an avid golfer and baseball fan. Father will lie in state at St. John the Evangelist Church, corner of Vestal Ave. and Livingston St., Binghamton, Sunday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at which time a vigil for a deceased priest will be held. A Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 10:30 a.m. by his fellow priests and the Most Rev. James M. Moynihan, D.D. Bishop of the Diocese of Syracuse as Principal Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Oxford, N.Y. In lieu of flowers or Mass intentions, expressions of sympathy in memory of Father may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church Food Pantry (loaves and fishes), 1263 Vestal Ave., Binghamton, N.Y. 13903. Arrangements are by the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, N.Y.
