Francis J. Short, 53, of Binghamton, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 15, 2002 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Mildred Short. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joan Short, Binghamton; sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick J. Short, Oreg., Matthew F. and Ginna M. Short, Binghamton. He had many loving relatives, Aunt Eleanor Short, Aunt Agnes Short and recently deceased, Aunt Mary Jane Short; exceptionally kind and fun loving cousins, Harold and Renee Cole, Kenneth and Linda Cole, Richard and Michelle Cole, Irene Cole, Virginia Laviska, Betty Stein, Jim Laviska, the Preston family. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Hillcrest. Francis graduated from SUNY Geneseo and received a masters degree from SUNY Plasstburg. He was a dedicated teacher of Psychology at Broome Community College for 31 years. Francis was a caring, gentle husband. He loved music, the N.Y. Yankees and day trips. Francis was always grateful in his heart for the many special friends and colleagues that he was blessed to know. They were always willing to share laughter and good thoughts with him. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Monday at 9:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Francis may be made to the Spiritual Center, 712 Rt. 79, Windsor, N.Y. 13865-2717.
