Donald J. Hastings, Sr., 73, of Conklin Forks, died Wednesday evening, July 17, 2002 at Binghamton General Hospital. He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Hastings; a sister, Margaret Winchell; two brothers, Gerald "Pat" Hastings and Frank Hastings. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sara Cheeseman Hastings, Conklin Forks; his children, Donna and David Krcha, Apalachin, Donald, Jr. and Vonnie Hastings, Concord, N.C., Sharon and Ken Potter, Kirkwood, James and Anita Hastings, Binghamton, Susan and Jeff Roberts, Rochester; 11 grandchildren, Jesse, Tabitha, Christopher, Nicholas, Ryan, Nicole, Andrew, Matthew, Sara, Colby, Caleb; great-grandchildren, Alexa and Tyler; his father, Gerald Hastings; sisters and brothers, Jane and John West, Ruby Hastings, Jack Winchell, Harold and Jeanette Hastings, Linda and Edward Prentice, Michael and Judy Hastings, Katie and Robert Duvall, Evelyn and Peter Contro, Patricia and Thomas Lee; a sister-in-law, Kathy Hastings; several nieces, nephews and members of the Cheeseman family. Don was a retired 43 year employee of Giant Markets and Akel Wholesale Grocery. He enjoyed his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Monday at 10 a.m. Rev. Jerry Terry, Pastor of Calvary's Love Assembly of God Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Knox Cemetery, Ouaquaga. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Don may be made to the American Lung Association, 587 Main St., New York Mills, N.Y. 13417.
