John Louis O'Brien, Sr., 81, of Binghamton, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at Pittsburgh Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Reta E. O'Brien, Binghamton; his children, John, Jr. and Janet O'Brien, James, Sr. and Karen O'Brien, all of Chenango Bridge, Jerry D., Sr. and Nancy O'Brien, Binghamton, Jack L. and Vickie O'Brien, Chenango Bridge, JoAnn and Arne Juliussen, Port Crane; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren. He was a member of Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, Binghamton and the founder of Academe Paving, Inc., now in it's 50th year. He was born March 29, 1921 and was an Army Corps veteran of WWII and a proud glider pilot and an accomplished private pilot. He was a past Master of Otseningo Lodge #435 and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was past Potentate of the Kalurah Temple. John was extremely loving and proud of all his family and was a very generous man. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, corner of Main and Oak Sts., Binghamton Tuesday at 9 a.m. Rev. Noreen P. Suriner, Rector, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. A Masonic service will be held Monday at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of John may be made to Shriner's Childrens Hospital, c/o Kalurah Temple, 625 Dickson St., Endicott, N.Y. 13760.
