Obituary of John Robert Kane

John Robert "Bob" Kane, 75, of
Binghamton, died Saturday afternoon, March 9, 2002 at his home after an
extended illness. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Margaret
McDonough Kane; his brothers, William and Frank; and his sisters, Caterine
Warren and Mary Winterstein. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary
Hawley Kane; his children, Peggy Kane, Patricia and Daniel Chamberlain, Sharon
and Joseph Chesna, Maureen and Richard Bendert, Joan and Kevin Coughlin, John
and Lynn Kane, James and Gerianne Kane; grandchildren, Amy, David, and Scott Chamberlain,
Joseph and Nicholas Chesna, Max and Chelsea Bendert, Michael and Carey Kane,
Ryan and Devin Kane, Keegan, McKenna, Brogan and Grady Coughlin; brothers,
Gerald and Sally Kane, James and Nancy Kane, Richard and Joni Kane; sisters,
Rita Sabatino, Jean Monroney, Elizabeth Slocum, Ellen and John Mitchell, Judy
and Jack Simma; sisters-in-law, Judy Kane, Julia and Francis Dohnalek; numerous
nieces and nephews. Bob was a member of St. Paul's Church, Binghamton; born in
Daytona, Florida; served in the U.S. Maritime Services during World War II;
member of American Legion Post 1645 and the American Legion in New Smyrna,
Fla.; member of V.F.W. Post 478; member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and
Endicott Elks B.P.O.E. #1977; attended Binghamton Central High School. Bob was
a retired sales representative for Toledo Scales. The family would like to
especially thank Connie Hayes and Pat Drabo from Hospice. Funeral services will
be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton
Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. and at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, where a Funeral Mass
will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family
will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to
9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Paul's
Church, 15 Doubleday St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13901 or the Hospice Program c/o Our
Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905
