Robert

J. McNerney of Binghamton died Thursday morning, May 31, 2001, at Our Lady of

Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by Margaret and Robert Touhey, Mary and

Jerry Staples, Rita and William Slimbaugh, Kathryn McNerney and Donald Beach.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Catherine McNerney, Binghamton; a

son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Maria McNerney, Greene; grandchildren,

Christopher and Cassidy; his sisters, Helen M. Beach and Louise C. McNerney,

and a brother, James E. McNerney, all of Binghamton; several nieces and

nephews. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton, retired

proprietor of McNerney Tire Co., member of the Binghamton Country Club for 50

years and an avid golfer, and an Army veteran of World War II. In retirement,

Bob was a hall monitor at Binghamton High School. Funeral services will be held

at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday at

9 a.m., and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, where a Funeral Mass will be

offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will

receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Sunday, from 2 to 5 p.m.
