Obituary of Robert W. Pflug

Robert
William Pflug, 85, of Binghamton, went to be with the angels Monday, May 7,
2001, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry
and Ethel Pflug; brothers George and Douglas Pflug; brothers-in-law, Francis
Mearin, Joseph Sotak, and Vito Longo. He is survived by his loving wife of 55
years, Angeline Longo Pflug, Binghamton; his children, Michele and George
Johnson, Binghamton, Robert E. and Dixie Pflug, Conklin, Annette and Ted Cook,
N.C.; his grandchildren, whom he loved so dearly and was so proud of, Debby and
David Custara, Christine and Donald Dykeman, Spc. Raymond Johnson, U.S. Army,
of whom Bob was especially proud, Krista, Eric and Brian Cook, Tom Jenks,
Nicole and Jeff Ackerman, Sarah Jenks; his great-grandchildren, Tara Custara,
Ryan Jenks, and baby Dykeman; his brother and sister-in-law, William and Martha
Pflug, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Marge Klement, Ann
Mearin, Josephine Sotak and Margaret Longo. Bob was a member of St. Mary of the
Assumption Church, Binghamton, retired employee of the Mohican Market, where he
became known to many Binghamton resident. He also worked for Rich-Plan and the
City of Binghamton. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in the
307th Bombardment Squadron and loved to attend his Air Force reunions. He was a
life member of the Knights of Columbus Peter T. Campon Council #206 and its 4th
Degree Assembly, a member of V.F.W. Post 478, and the Nocturnal Adoration
Society. He loved all his family dearly, his humor and constant love will be
sadly missed. Bob loved life and we will all remember his special love of
dancing. Thanks to the entire staff of Lourdes Seton I West for their tender
loving care of Bob and support for his family. Funeral services will held at
the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, and at 9:30
a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, where a Funeral Mass will be
offered. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive
friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy
in memory of Bob may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Refurbishment Fund,
37 Fayette St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13901.
