William O. Kunkle (Bill Pryor), 82 of Binghamton , died Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen (MacEwan) Kunkle; a daughter Deette Sheffield, Rochester; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Marjorie Kunkle, E. Windsor, NJ; Jere and Sharon Kunkle, Binghamton; Christopher and Robin Kunkle, Fort Wayne, Ind; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Bill had a long and richly rewarding life, one of seamless attention to the happiness of his family and many, many friends; much of it lived in the public eye as a pioneer local TV and radio celebrity. Bill graduated Binghamton Central High School in 1936, and served valiantly as an artillery Captain in WWII in the European Theatre. Following the war, Bill embarked on long careers with WNBF radio and TV as a sportscaster, Prudential Insurance Co. as a Division Manager and the Binghamton/Broome County YMCA Executive Director, retiring in 1982. Bill was a gifted athlete, avid golfer and a highly-honored Binghamton Lion s Club member and was a recipient of the Lion of the Year Award and the Melvin Jones Fellowship. His years of Lions work and other community activities made the lives of countless others brighter. Bill will be sorely missed by his family and his community. There will be no services at his request. Memorial contributions in Bill's name may be made to Binghamton Lions Charities, P.O. Box 776, Binghamton N.Y. 13902. Arrangements are by the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, N.Y. William O. Kunkle age 82, of 57 Louisa St., Binghamton died Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City. Mr. Kunkle was the son to the late Edward and the late Elsie (Yoder) Kunkle. He was the husband of Helen Mac Ewan. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. He was employed by Y. M. C. A., Binghamton,ny Mr. Kunkle was a member of He is survived by Wife: Helen Kunkle Binghamton, NY at at , , with officiating. Burial will be in Twin Tiers Crematory, Endicott.
