Obituary of Rose D. Munson

Rose D. Munson, 76, of Binghamton, died Monday
afternoon, January 29, 2001, at the Ideal Senior Living Center. She was
predeceased by her husband, Eldon R. Munson, Sr.; her parents, Genevieve Connor
De Nio and Martin De Nio; her brother, Frederick A. De Nio; and her
sister-in-law and husband, Isabelle and Herman Knecht. She is survived by her
children, Eldon Jr. and Janet Munson, Francestown, N.H., David and Elizabeth
"Ann" Munson, Binghamton, Beth and William Knecht, Endwell; her
grandchildren, Sara Munson Klumb, Genevieve, Kathleen, David and Eldon Munson
III, Jessica and Emily Munson, Jennifer and Kristen Knecht; a great grandson,
Tyler Klumb; a sister, Elizabeth Norton; two nieces, Jacqueline Alterio and
Rose Marie Cowan. Rose was a member of St. James Church, Johnson City. She was
born in Poyntelle, Pa. and during high school she moved to Hallstead, Pa.,
where she met the love of her life, Eldon in 1941. They were married after the
completion of Elson's military service in 1946, the same day her sister Betty
became Mrs. Richard Norton. They lived in Johnson City and later in Binghamton
and raised their three children on Stanford Place, where they lived among the
finest neighbors a family could want. Rose devoted her young married life to
raising her children. Later she worked for the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Corporation
for a number of years. In retirement she enjoyed her growing family as
grandchildren and recently a great grandchild who became the source of great
pride to her. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral
Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Thursday, at 9 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m., at St.
James Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack
Funeral Home Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
