Bernard J. Monahan, "Uncle Bernard", 91,

of Hawleyton, passed away Monday morning, January 1, 2001, at home surrounded

by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Anna

Monahan; his sister and brother-in-law, Gertrude and Maurice Brewer, brother

and sister-in-law, Joseph and Betty Monahan; brother, Gerald Monahan;

sister-in-law, Maureen Monahan. He was also predeceased by his nephews, Jimmy

and Mike Monahan, who worked and lived with him for many years. He is survived

by his brother, Francis Monahan and sister-in-law, Marion Svenson, along with

many cousins and close friends. Bernard never married but he lovingly raised

and nurtured his brothers children and their families. He will be sadly missed

by Joe, Linda, Christina, Amanda, and Joseph Monahan, Elizabeth Monahan and Eva

Salzer, Michele, Ron, Angel, Katie, and Joe Aton, Gigi, John, Michael and Eric

Puglisi, Tricia, Jim, Brandi, Joshua, and Chase Apicella, Jerry Joanne, Lisa

and Sean Monahan, Joan, Ric, and Ricky Ranucci, Kathy, Larry, Jodi, and

Danielle Hawk, Dennis, Joanne, Kellie, and Stacie Monahan, and Corky Brewer.

Bernard was a life-long member of St. Augustine's Church, Silver Lake, Pa. and

a dairy farmer his entire life. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and Eastern

Milk Producers. He was a man of great faith and a man of simple needs who took

great pleasure in a hard days work and a warm home. He enjoyed his Sunday

"breakfast club" with Mike, George, and Phip and was always ready for

a visit if a friend or neighbor stopped by. Anyone who knew Bernard was blessed

to have had him in their lives. Funeral services will be held at the J. A. McCormack Sons

Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Thursday at 10 a.m. and at 11 a.m. at

St. Augustine's Church, Silver Lake, Pa. where a Funeral Mass will be offered.

Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery in the spring. The family will

receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Wednesday, from 3 to 7 p.m.
