Obituary of Patrick M. O´Neil

Patrick M. O'Neil, Ph.D., 54, of
Binghamton, formerly of Norwich, died Sunday morning, May 26, 2002 at Our Lady
of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas D. O'Neil. He is
survived by his mother, Edith B. O'Neil, Norwich; aunt, Catherine White,
Norwich; uncle, John J. O'Neil, St. Petersburg, Fla.; niece, Ann Marie
Mangelli; several cousins, including Sister Sharon O'Neil, OSF, St. Petersburg,
Fla.; a good friend, Joyce Prindle. Patrick was a graduate of Norwich High
School and received his Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree in Social Science,
History, Philosophy and English Literature, Bachelors Degree in English
Literature and a Ph.D. in History from Binghamton University. He was the editor
of Great World Writers, editor of Aristoi, an interdisciplinary journal at
Broome Community College. Dr. O'Neil was Secretary of the Faculty Association
at B.C.C. and was on the faculty at Broome Community College for 17 years where
he was a Professor of Philosophy and History. He traveled and lectured
extensively in the United States and England. His memberships include life
member, Academy of Political Science, American and International Association
for the Philosophy of Law, life member of American Historical Association,
Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy, N.Y.S. Association of European
Historians, New York State Philosophical Association (Creighton Club), Society
of Christian Philosophers, International Churchill Society and Modern Language
Association. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Paul's Church, Pleasent St.,
Norwich, N.Y., Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery,
Norwich. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral
Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of
sympathy in memory of Patrick may be made to B.C.C. Foundation Office, PO Box
1017, Binghamton, N.Y. 13902.
