Obituary of Anthony Sarantopoulos

Anthony Sarantopoulos, 70, of Binghamton, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, November 19, 2002. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Bessie Sarantopoulos. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Frances Monsipapa Sarantopoulos, Binghamton; his daughter and son-in-law, Maria Sarantopoulos-Harp and Rodney Harp, Montclair, N.J.; his loving granddaughters, Londyn and Sydney Harp; his brothers, Peter and Geraldine Sarantopoulos, Bardonia, William and Vivian Sarantopoulos, Selkerk, George Sarantopoulos, Binghamton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank and Irene Monsipapa, Grace Groosman, The Villages, Fla., Lena Smith, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, "Maxi". He was a member of St. James Church, Johnson City, and veteran of the Korean War where he received a letter of commendation. He retired from the New York State Department of Transportation after 23 years of service and a member of American Legion Post 80. You will be truly missed by your family and we know you are playing cards with St. Anthony, Grandma Falcone and Uncle Frank. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Friday, November 29, 2002, at 9:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m., at St. James Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. James Church Memorial Fund, 155 Main St., Johnson City, N.Y. 13790.
