W. Peter "Pete" Davis, 68, of Binghamton, was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on Sunday, November 24, 2002, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa., after an extended illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Genevieve Davis. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan E. Davis, Binghamton; his children, Linda and Martin Anderson, Balch Springs, Tex., Jennifer and Timothy Day, Binghamton, Peter and Debbie Davis, Syracuse, Cara and Jim Schmidt, Endicott, Spencer and Rhonda Davis, Petersburg, Va., Susan and Jeff Fenocchi, Syracuse, Wendy Halik, Binghamton; his grandchildren, Mandy and Marshall Anderson, Alayna and Gabrielle Davis, Jessica and Chelsea Schmidt, Spencer and Adam Davis, Katie Fenocci; a sister and brother-in-law, Dolly and Jerry Giblin, Chenango Forks; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Binghamton. Pete worked in various construction related jobs including Barrett Paving, Co., Syracuse Supply and the N.Y.S. D.O.T. Pete leaves behind many dear friends with whom he would "hold court" each morning at the Binghamton Y.M.C.A. He was a devoted volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program. Pete was an extremely faithful and positive person, often performing random acts of kindness for those he knew and even for those he didn't. Even in passing, he has given the gift of sight to another. To him, every day was a good day. When asked, everything was excellent. Pete touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him. Pete's family is very grateful to all the people at Robert Packer Hospital and the Guthrie Clinic, who provided him with such compassionate care throughout his illness. He was a veteran of the United States Army. A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Wednesday, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Friendsville, Pa. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Pete may be made to the Binghamton Y.M.C.A., 61 Susquehanna St., Binghamton, N.Y., 13901, or Meals On Wheels, 85 Walnut St., Binghamton, N.Y., 13905, or the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 2 Mony Pl., Syracuse, N.Y. 13202.
