Dougherty, James E. of Vestal: James E. Dougherty, 84, of Vestal passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Audrey R. Dougherty; his parents, James E. Sr. and Florence Dougherty and his sister June Jones. He is survived by his children, Maureen Dougherty, Bonnie and Bill Goodwin, Tim and Jane Dougherty and Dan Dougherty; his grandchildren, Jamie and Haley Goodwin, Emily, Allison, Carly and Jeremy Dougherty, Jessica, Justin and Cassidy Dougherty; great-granddaughter, Shaylynn Dougherty; several nieces, nephews and cousins including Bill and Kathleen Murray. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Vestal. Jim retired from AT&T after 37 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a founding member of the Greek Peak Ski Patrol. Jim graduated from Binghamton Central High School and Clarkson College before going to work for N.Y. Telephone. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent dePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road Vestal, Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Jim may be made to the American Cancer Society , 13 Beech Street, Johnson City, NY 13790.
