Obituary of Albert J. Siedlarczyk

Siedlarczyk, Albert J. Binghamton: Albert J. Siedlarczyk, 85, of Binghamton, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Mary Siedlarczyk; stepfather, Constantine Kocenko; sister, Isabel and Bill Lucas; and son-in-law, Carroll J. Baker; and infants, Mary Alice and Paul. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Molly Siedlarczyk, Binghamton; his daughters, Marie and Jim Propes, Irene Siedlarczyk, both of Endicott; grandchildren, Mitchell Propes, Kisma Baker Westerberg, Torie Baker Sharp; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Constantine Kocenko, Johnson City; sister, Mary and Jim Morlando, NC; aunt, Catherine Bebensee, CA; special friend, Emil Bielecki and his family; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Binghamton, and a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was a retired engineer for the IBM Corporation with 25 years of service and formerly an engineer at Link Aviation. He graduated from Johnson City High School and NYS Institute of Applied Arts and Science (Broome Tech) Classes of 1949 and 1956. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII and served in the battles of Okinawa and Iwo Jima and was present at the Japanese surrender on board the ship on September 2, 1945. He was a longtime member of USS Missouri Association and served as their chaplain for many years. Al volunteered for many community and church activities and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, member of the Kopernik Society, Peter T. Campon Council #206 and a member of VFW Post 478. He was an avid skier and gardener. Special thanks to the Walsh and Murphy families and to the staff and nurses at Lourdes Hospital. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Binghamton, Monday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Sunday from 2-5 p.m.
