Obituary of Katherine A. Libous

Katherine A. Libous, 86, of Binghamton, died Friday, January 16, 2015 at Good Shepherd-Fairview Home surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Gladys Haddad; a brother, Norman Haddad; and a nephew, Stephen Haddad. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, William A. Libous; her children, Senator Thomas W. and Frances Libous, Binghamton; Richard and Roberta Libous, Johnson City; Susan and James Heenan, Vestal; her grandchildren, Matthew and Katie Libous, Nicholas Libous, William and Peter Libous, Marissa and J. Lucas Heenan; great grandson, Campbell Jude Libous; sisters, Lila and Henry Nussbaum, Arline Foltyn, Endicott; brothers-in-law, Alfred Libous, Hillcrest, James Libous, Binghamton; several nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton and the St. John Vianney Club. She was a member of the Johnson City Knights of Columbus Auxiliary; former employee of Ansco and BOCES; teacher's aide at Binghamton High School and started the library at 5 Riverside Towers. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She adored her family who were her pride and joy, especially her grandchildren and was able to enjoy her great grandson for these last few months. She especially loved to shop with her only granddaughter. She loved to watch sporting events, especially Syracuse basketball with her grandsons. Her conversations and candid responses always made her grandchildren laugh and enjoyed being with her. The family wishes to thank the staff of Good Shepherd-Fairview Home for the wonderful care given to Katherine. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Ave. Binghamton (due to renovations at St. Patrick's Church) Friday at 12 noon. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at St. Thomas Aquinas Church Friday from 11am to 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
