Kirkwood: Philip J. Evans, 79 of Kirkwood passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Rose Strubel Evans, step-son William J. White and sister-in-law, Corrine Cahill. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Cahill) Evans; Jay White and Paula Williams, Montrose, PA; daughter-in-law, Sandra (Goff) White; grandchildren Wesley and Ashleigh White, Luke White, Ethan and Leah White, Jay T. White, Brianna White, all of Montrose, PA; brother, James and Roberta Evans, Endicott; sister, Judy and Robert Buckley, Strongsville, OH; brother-in-law, Ronald and Marianne Cahill; Marilyn Cahill, all of Newark, DE; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, Binghamton and retired from Binghamton Hardware Co. He was an I.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War; belonged to Shufflin Shoes Square Dance Club and Secular Franciscan Fraternity. The family would like to thank the staff of Lourdes Seton 3 and thank you to Dr. Barrett for his care. A Funeral Mass will be offered at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Binghamton Wednesday at 10am. Burial will be in the Kirkwood Cemetery, Kirkwood. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St Tuesday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Phil may be made to St. Cyril's Repair my church fund. 148 Clinton St, Binghamton, NY 13905.
