Neylan, Mary A. (Bowden)
"There's magic in a Mother's touch, and sunshine in her smile. There's love in everything she does." Mom went peacefully to be with Our Lord and her two favorite guys: her husband of 49 years, James E. Neylan Jr. and her son, Robert J. Neylan. Born in Forest City, PA, the fifth child of Thomas and Lucille Bowden. Mom has now joined her parents, sisters, and brothers, Marguerite Fallon, Bertha Enslin, Harold Bowden, Thomas Bowden, Cecilia Bergin, Agnes Fowler, Arlene Rivenberg, Robert Bowden, and Paul Bowden. And Mom's Godchild, Kathy Bergin, will once more be doing her hair. Survived by her daughter, Colleen Giblin and favorite son-in-law, Raymond of Binghamton; her wonderful daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Maykulsky) Neylan of Frisco, TX; seven amazing grandchildren, Kelly (Scott) McGowan of Clifton Park, Lisa (Mike) Follis of Frisco, TX, Kimberly (Matt) Krukin of Manlius, James (Kara) Giblin of Binghamton, Kelley (Brett) Smith of Frisco, TX, Kerri (Sal) Ferraro of Brooklyn, and Kristen (Scott) Dowling of Frisco, TX; 13 beautiful great-grandchildren with #14 due in January; several nieces and nephews who I want to thank for their love and loyalty to Mom. Moving to Johnson City/Binghamton in 1937, Mom worked at Waldorf's in Johnson City where she waitressed and did cake decorating in the window. She then worked at Ansco's until marrying the love of her life. After raising her children, she returned to work at Beck's Shoe Store and The Curio Shop. Mom's strong will to live and unwavering faith in God made her life rich, her marriage strong, and her children devoted. Mom belonged to St. Patrick's Church until moving to the South Side in 1969. She then became a member of St. John's/St. Andrew's Church. I would like to thank Willow Point (SWW & NLL) for taking such good care of Mom. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Ave., Binghamton, Friday, September 26, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Mom's name. Mom loved her church, children, and animals.
