Obituary of Bernice E. DeGroat

Bernice E. DeGroat, 94, of Vestal, passed away Sunday evening, August 10, 2014, at the Willow Point Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband, Alvie G. DeGroat; a son, C. Vincent DeGroat; her parents, Archie and Elizabeth Casey; and eight brothers. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Ann Marie DeGroat, Cameron, NC, George and Debbie DeGroat, Owego; seven grandchildren, Kristin and Toby Foss, Michael DeGroat, Jr. and Aaron Cunningham, Kimberly DeGroat and Matthew Cook, Eric and Jennifer DeGroat, Kyle DeGroat, Shana DeGroat, and Polly DeGroat; eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a member of the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Binghamton. Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Main St., Binghamton, Thursday at 10 am. The Rev. Msgr. Michael T. Meagher will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, Inc. Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Bernice's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 401 Hayes Ave., Endicott, NY 13760.
