Obituary of Richard M. Painchaud

Richard M. Painchaud of Vestal, New York passed away peacefully after a long illness on December 24, 2024 at the age of 81. He was born in Hartford, CT on March 18, 1943. Richard was very devoted to his family. He never hesitated to help others whenever he was needed. He is predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Georgette Painchaud. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Marcello) Painchaud. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary this past June. He is survived by his daughter, Jeanine (Mike) Root, and grandchildren Seth, Sam, and Violet of Vestal, NY. Richard adored his grandchildren and loved going on adventures with them. He is also survived by his brother Normand (Janis) and nephew, Paul Painchaud of Vestal, and several cousins in Maine and Florida. Richard graduated from high school at Lakemont Academy, Lakemont, NY. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida. He worked for McDonnell Douglas Corporation as an Aeronautical Engineer in both Long Beach, CA and St. Louis, MO. Later, Richard returned to Binghamton, NY where he worked for several area companies: Raymond Corporation, McIntosh Laboratory, Doron Precision Systems, and Samscreen. Richard loved jogging and participating in 5K running events with his friend Bob Paul. He also enjoyed skiing and spent many happy hours on the ski slopes. However, his greatest joy was riding his motorcycles. Richard was a very kind and compassionate man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends alike. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal, Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday January 6, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Richard's memory may be made to The Humane Society, 167 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13903.
